Artist's words

Distorted communications, contradictions, instincts, relief... All these sly and elaborated intentions are expressed through a very suitable material; a gas mask.

As we wear the mask that is already made, we make mistakes of expressing our instincts in mind that we secretly hide in the relief that everything is hidden from the outside. Finally we realize that when we can not get rid of reality by being trapped in the illusion created by ourselves.

A gas mask shows distorted stories, selfishness, black and white logic, defense psychology that are unnecessarily consumed in reality, and compares the disordered self of modern man.

Like black and white logic, I am totally excluding a neutral self, wearing a gas mask that is created by others, different from my own will. It also gives a distorted self to be constantly acknowledged by others. Hidden behind the mask, we may feel a little satisfied with a sigh of relief. But the gas mask makes us more and more frustrated.

I wanted to think about a problem with a self that is lost for modern people living in a hard reality. I am trying to make a piece of work that weary modern people can take a moment to think about their life and their future.
